Dexterity, Inc. unveiled Instinct, a new Physical AI capability that lets robots manipulate objects by feel. The company says it is the first to deploy touch and force control in production at scale.
Instinct reads contact forces up to 2,000 times per second and reacts roughly 10-100 times faster than human touch, allowing robots to feel their way into tight, unpredictable gaps such as those encountered when packing boxes into truck trailers.
Instinct works in close partnership with Dexterity's world model, Foresight, which decides when to trigger tactile manipulation, while contact data from Instinct helps Foresight refine its understanding of the physical world.
