Dexterity, Inc. and Beckhoff USA, the creator of the EtherCAT fieldbus standard, entered into a key supplier agreement for the design and development of Dexterity's Mech superhumanoid robots.

Beckhoff supplies compact control hardware along with PLC and machine-safety technology (Safety over EtherCAT) used across Dexterity's robotics solutions, with engineers from both companies working closely together on implementation.

Dexterity, currently valued at $1.65 billion and reported to be on a fast track toward an IPO, said the partnership supports the reliability and safety needed as it scales deployments with logistics customers such as FedEx and Sagawa Express.
